Welcome to Countryside Elementary!

Ms. Lori Zataveski
Principal
The Countryside School is home to 335 students in Grades PK-4, and 70 staff members each school day. Here are just a few of the many opportunities our students have been given to encourage active learning:

Through our Buddy Program, each preschool child in our school is paired with a fourth-grade buddy. The buddies meet for one period a week and participate in a teacher-directed learning activity. Through our Student Announcer Program, the students in kindergarten through fourth-grade conduct the morning opening exercises, and announcements.

We have a very active and caring Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). In addition to raising funds for technology, assemblies, field trips, and playground equipment, the PTO consistently generates ideas for school improvement.

Countryside Students Earn Awards for Art Display

Each month, Mount Laurel Schools take turns displaying student art work at the Hattie Britt Administrative Offices. Once the term has ended, student art work is brought back to its home school and Superintendent George J. Rafferty visits the classrooms of those who have contributed to present each student with a letter of thanks and a certificate. Countryside's display ended in November, and the Superintendent visited on November 27 to distribute awards. See more photos in our Photo Gallery.

A Path to Success 2030
Where do we go from here?
The December 7 session of our Strategic Planning Initiative brought more than 80 participants out to begin laying the framework for our action plan. In eight areas identified by consensus during the first two sessions, those present suggested first steps to implement many of the items that had been recommended. Minutes from the December 7 session will be posted below shortly.
In January, an invitation will go out to all community members to participate in a survey, for those who were unable to attend. Following responses to the survey, committees will be formed to actually write the three-year strategic plan. anyone interested in serving on the plan committee is asked to contact Superintendent George J. Rafferty. The committee will hold three meetings, each
limited to 90-minutes.

Minutes from our November 2 and November 30 Meetings
Our November 2 meeting focused on Points of Pride - those things participants were most proud of within the Mount Laurel Schools. More than 130 community members worked in 30 small groups to identify personal points of pride first, and then discussed those items within the group to come to consensus on items they had identified in common.
The theme for the November 30 meeting was "Expectations for the Future," those things that participants would like to see if they looked back three years from now in our schools. Individuals once again noted their ideas first, and then shared them with the group to come to a small numbers of consensus items everyone agreed upon. Minutes reflect both the Consensus Items and the individual responses.
Here are the complete minutes from the November 30 Expectations for the Future Meeting.
