Welcome to Countryside Elementary!

Ms. Lori Zataveski
The Countryside School is home to 335 students in Grades PK-4, and 70 staff members each school day. Here are just a few of the many opportunities our students have been given to encourage active learning:

Through our Buddy Program, each preschool child in our school is paired with a fourth-grade buddy. The buddies meet for one period a week and participate in a teacher-directed learning activity. Through our Student Announcer Program, the students in kindergarten through fourth-grade conduct the morning opening exercises, and announcements.

We have a very active and caring Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). In addition to raising funds for technology, assemblies, field trips, and playground equipment, the PTO consistently generates ideas for school improvement.

Interim Superintendent

Dr. Sharon Vitella has been named Interim Superintendent of Schools in the wake of Dr. Antoinette Rath's retirement, effective September 1. Dr. Vitella holds a Doctorate Degree from Nova Southeastern University and a Master of Science from Gwynedd-Mercy College. She also holds a Master of Arts Degree from The College of New Jersey, and has extensive experience in professional and curriculum development. Dr. Vitella has served the district since 2007, and will continue to oversee Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment as Interim Superintendent. She will serve as Interim until a permanent replacement is named and seated. To that end, the Board of Education has begun the Superintendent Search process. Details on the search may be found on our Superintendent Search webpage.

Visit Our Learning Garden Blog Page!

Countryside’s Learning Garden has been created as a place where students can connect to nature and the environment around them, while nurturing their creativity and curiosity. Students are planning, developing and maintaining the garden, as well as participating in hands-on activities that incorporate standard-focused activities in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math). Everyone at Countryside has the opportunity to use this outdoor classroom to explore, discuss, collaborate and learn first-hand through meaningful and engaging lessons.
